I find things like this really hard to write- I do think it's important to offer potential clients and customers a little insight into who I am though and why I started Smitten, so.....
I grew up in Maple Heights, Ohio in a house of women (my mom, my sister, myself, Fluffy, our one-eyed Siamese cat and Molly, our dog). I went to John Carroll University where I graduated with an accounting degree and more importantly met my husband, Gregor. After graduating, I worked as an Auditor for Ernst & Young. After a few years I escaped that and headed to Costa Rica & Mexico to learn Spanish and forget the horrors of auditing.
When I returned, I convinced one of my best friends to move to Chicago with me and took a job in accounting. I quit that in 2004 when I got engaged and moved to Miami to plan my own wedding. I had helped numerous friends and acquaintances with the details of their big day - but planning my own really solidified my love for the subject and propelled me to start Smitten Boutique.
I have learned so much running my boutique over the last 5 years. My most enjoyable moments have always come from interaction with newly engaged couples, new moms and new homeowners! Helping people make the special occasions in thier lives extraordinary is truly a rewarding and "awe" inspiring calling for me!
I grew up in a small town in Indiana, but I always knew I wanted to eventually live in a large city. I took a part time retail job in college, and I loved working with people and merchandising displays in the store. I was fascinated by learning the ins and outs of a fashion business, and realized it was more than just a college job for me.
I fell in love with my husband in college, and when he was offered a job in Chicago we knew it was the perfect place for us to start our life together. I transferred to School of Art Institute-Chicago to focus on my Fashion Marketing and Management degree, and started interning at Smitten soon after.
We like to say that Smitten is a place to celebrate the best of times in life. I’m lucky enough to say that I have spent some amazing life moments during my time at Smitten…an engagement, a wedding, our first house and most recently a new baby. I like to think I’m one of the lucky few who genuinely love going to work every day. Our customers become more than just a customer…I get so see their best moments in life whether its planning their wedding, buying their first home, starting a family or watching their babies grow. Smitten has become my home away from home and there is no place I’d rather be!
Originally from California, I relocated to Chicago for a change of scenery. I've spent my entire career working in hospitality and recently focused my attention by completing my Weddings and Event Planner certification. After just a few days of working as an intern at Smitten Boutique, I knew this place was a great fit. Now that I'm officially part of the team, I have the excitement and pleasure of working alongside brides and grooms planning the perfect wedding. I also love organizing and decorating the store so much, I've earned the nickname "Mini Martha Stewart". What can I say? I love weddings, holidays, and any reason to celebrate!
